THE BAHAMAS MASTER

Originally based in Panama, this 35m steel vessel becomes part of the Master Liveaboards fleet in 2018 as the Bahamas Master.

CABINS

The Bahamas Master has 8 well-designed cabins and can comfortably welcome 16 guests onboard. Guests can choose between three cabin types; two Premium cabins on the forward Upper Deck, with Double beds plus private en-suite bathroom, two Classic cabins with en-suite and four Standard cabins sharing two bathrooms with heated showers. All cabins have panoramic windows, so there is plenty of day light and ocean views for all.

AMENITIES

Communal relaxation areas are both on the Upper and Main Decks. On the Main Deck, towards the bow of the boat, indoor you will find the designated camera area plus comfortable bean bags and a TV/DVD. Upstairs, you will find the spacious covered Outdoor Bar and Dining Area, as well as a Sundeck for relaxation after the dives.

FOOD ON BOARD

All master liveaboards yachts offer a choice of international and local cuisine, served buffet style, in the indoor air-conditioned dining area.

A normal day onboard the Bahamas Master is all about diving! Bahamas Master offer 'Open Pool' on most days, around planned feeding dives; the guests are free to dive in as much as they want. The diving day is scheduled as follows: Light Breakfast followed by Dive 1 then open dive deck, Full Breakfast, relaxation period, Dive 2 then open dive deck. Lunch, relaxation period, Dive 3 then open dive deck, dinner. All dives are shallow: 10-15m.

We cater to special dietary requirements; please inform our reservations team prior to your trip to ensure we have plenty of dishes to suit your needs. A range of carbonated soft drinks, fruit juices, black, green and herbal teas are commonly available, as well as instant and freshly brewed coffee. A selection of fresh fruit is readily available, as well as some tasty treats, should you feel peckish in between meal times. Guests may also select beer, wine, or spirits from our cocktail bar for an additional fee

It is an understatement to say the Bahamas are World Famous for Shark Diving, however, there is so much more! The Bahamas is the third largest Barrier Reef area in the world and covers a vast 470.000km2 of sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Existing of 700 Islands and Cays; one can easily imagine the variety of dive sites: Wrecks, Cave, Blue Holes and, obviously - Sharks!

• The trip begins in Freeport and ends in Freeport
• The closest airport is Grand Bahama Intl (FPO)
• Pickup time at the airport is according to your flights.
• Give yourself enough time to go through immigration and pickup your bags
• Hotel pickup time is late in the morning

EMBARKATION AND DEPARTURE

• You can check in on the boat as of 13:00
• The boat departs Freeport in the afternoon on the same day
• Transfer from/to the airport is included, additional transfer can be arranged
• The vessel is equipped with US power sockets, Power socket adapters

ARRIVAL AND DISEMBARKATION

• Your last dives will be on the second to last day late in the morning
• It is your responsibility to ensure you respect the 24 hour no-fly time after your last dive!
• The boat docks back in Freeport in the afternoon on the second to last day
• Check out and disembarkation is around 10:00 on the last day.

EXTRA INFORMATION

• Water temperatures range from 22°C in January and 28°C (72-84°F) in August.
• Most guests are comfortable diving in a 3mm or 5mm full wetsuit
• Drones can only be brought into the Bahamas with pre-approved permission
• On board of the Bahamas Master we have 110/60Hz sockets.
• There are universal adapters available however we do advise guests to bring their own to ensure you have the amount necessary

ITINERARY GENERAL INFORMATION

• 21 dives
• It is recommended divers have experience beyond beginner level to ensure maximum enjoyment, especially with the nature of the wildlife in the area.
• Bahamas are world famous for shark diving, however, there is so much more! The Bahamas is the third largest barrier reef area in the world and covers a vast 470.000km2 of sparkling Atlantic Ocean.
• Existing of 700 islands and cays; one can easily imagine the variety of dive sites: wrecks, cave, blue holes and, obviously, sharks! Caribbean reef shark, lemon shark, nurse shark, bull shark, tiger shark, great hammerhead, and oceanic whitetip sharks.
• Dive sites include tiger beach, fish tales, lighthouse, sugar wreck, bimini islands
• The dry season months from November to May could have slightly choppier waters, but are considered the best dive season. February and March are most successful for bull and tiger shark sighting while April and May are most common for Oceanic whitetips.

PROGRAM

DAY 1

• Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork, Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departing the Harbour.
• During the journey to our first dive site for a check dive, please take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel and make yourself comfortable.
• Depending on arrival time we will make a check dive

DAY 2 - 7

• The diving day aboard the Bahamas Master is scheduled as follows:
• light Breakfast followed by a briefing and Dive 1.
• Full Breakfast, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 2.
• Lunch, relaxation period, briefing and Dive 3.
• Snack relaxation period, briefing and Dive 4, where possible.
• Dinner.

• On some itineraries, such as Tiger Beach itineraries, there is an open platform policy where guests can jump in the water and watch the action as the mood takes them.

• Guests may also take the opportunity to visit the islands and walk upon the pristine beaches.
• Dive sites vary between specific shark diving spots on sandy bottoms and ‘regular’ reef diving. Currents are not the norm in the Bahamas but it is recommended divers have experience beyond beginner level to ensure maximum enjoyment, especially with the nature of the wildlife in the area.

DAY 8

• After a leisurely breakfast, check out and disembark.

DIVE SITES

• Tiger Beach is located off the West End of Grand Bahama Island and the best known point for tiger and lemon shark encounters at a shallow (6-7m/19-23ft) white sand bottom. This is the ultimate site for photographers and videographers. Chances of spotting great hammerheads, nurse sharks, and bull sharks make an appearance occasionally.
• Fish Tales is another great location for shark spotting: lemon, Caribbean reef, nurse and tiger sharks. Very close to Tiger Beach but a little deeper with the same shark action. Bimini Islands is the westernmost island group of the Bahamas, these are truly islands in the stream, as they are situated southwest of Grand Bahama Island on the edge of an underwater cliff that drops hundreds of meters into the blue abyss. The most famous spot for great Hammerheads and Bull sharks encounters. Best season is January - March
• White Sand Ridge, Bahamas Banks is an hotspot for swimming, freediving and snorkeling with pods of wild Atlantic spotted and bottlenose Dolphins. If the Dolphins stay around, you cmay even get to dive with them. An experience not to be missed

CANCELLATION POLICY

What if I need to cancel my booking?
Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have. After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

• In the event of Groups cancellation (6 spaces or more), the following charges will apply:
• More than 365 days: 2% cancellation fee applies*
• 365 – 181 days prior to departure: 15% cancellation fee applies
• 180 - 91 days prior to departure: 40% cancellation fee applies
• 90 – 0 days prior to departure: 100% cancellation fee applies
• *Greater than 365 days prior to departure, we will honour the 2% deposit that we are holding against the booking, provided a minimum of 1 person travels on the same departure date, under the same booking reference, in the same accommodation.

In case of cancellation the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 business days

BEFORE TRAVELLING

• Make sure you meet the country's requirements corresponding to your nationality
• Make sure your passport is valid at least six months after the date you plan to visit the country
• Diving insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all of our trips: bring your certificate as proof
• It is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of diving holidays you are going to do
• Check the electrical standards (such as which plugs are used) in your destination country before travelling and bring the appropriate adaptor if necessary.
• The itinerary and the number of dives are indicative and are subject to weather conditions and conditions: safety is always first
• All divers must provide their diving certification card
• Diving computers are compulsory
• Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in the price of oil, etc. The changes are beyond our control and the increases must be paid if the boat requests them. We will endeavour to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not entitle you to cancel the trip.
