The 125-foot liveaboard Avalon II was launched in 2014 to provide every luxury possible to Divers in the Gardens of the Queen. The size and power of this liveaboard vessel ensures smooth sailing at all times, enabling its guests to sit back and relax throughout the week.


The liveaboard Avalon II features 10 luxurious cabins. Each comes equipped with individually-controlled air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with hot water showers and panoramic windows to enjoy the pristine Caribbean scenery. All cabins have 2 beds (one full, one twin).


A combination Dining, Bar and Lounge can be found on the Boat Deck. The liveaboard's shaded deck is the perfect place to catch up on your favourite book or have a chat with your fellow Divers. On the Top Deck, there is a spacious Sun Deck with loungers and chairs as well as a relaxing 500-gallon Jacuzzi from which you can enjoy the panoramic view.


The luxury found in the accommodation and diving are carried over to meal times as well. The skilled Chef serves up Italian fare, Cuban cuisine and fresh Seafood on a daily basis. All meals, snacks and water are included in your charter.  Soft drinks, fresh juices, alcohol, beer and wine are available for purchase on this liveaboard.

All supplemental purchases made on the liveaboard Avalon II must be paid with cash. Credit cards are not accepted. Please keep in mind that Euros are the best currency to bring to Cuba. 


Jardines de la Reina Marine Park is one of the biggest treasures of the Caribbean, on a bigger scale can also be considered as one of the World's best-preserved Marine Areas. The importance of its protection goes beyond the Cuban Waters jurisdiction, as the connectivity between marine ecosystems has international importance.

The liveaboard Avalon II offers guests the opportunity to dive in sites rarely seen by other Divers with one of the most experienced liveaboard operators in Cuba, Avalon fleet is a Cuban/Italian management company.

Diving and excitement abounds at the third-largest reef in the Caribbean, boasting the region’s best Shark Encounters and an amazing variety of marine species.

Guests will have ample opportunity to explore the land areas of the Gardens of the Queen. Dense Mangroves are perfect for wildlife spotting. Journey through the small waterways in order to find the area’s endangered Cuban Crocodiles. If conditions are perfect, you’ll even have the opportunity to snorkel with these Crocodiles. Be sure to bring your camera. You’re going to want a snap shot of that toothy Crocodile smile.


The cabin includes air conditioning with individual temperature controls, electricity plugs and private bathroom. Each room has panoramic windows to enjoy the breath taking view of the Caribbean beaches. The bed is a bunk bed, with a double bed on the lower level and a single bed on the upper level.

  • Your last dives will be on the second to last day in the morning
  • It is your responsibility to ensure you respect the 24 hour no-fly time after your last dive!
  • The boat docks back in Jucaro at night on the penultimate day
  • Check out and disembarkation is around 09:00 on the last day.


  • US citizens need to review the current status of the OFAC regulations regarding Cuba travel since they have changed in June 2019. Please do not make a booking before you have verified for yourself that you qualify under the current regulations.
  • Transfers from / to Havana need to be reconfirmed. The price for the transfer is usually around 75-100 USD pp/way and also depends on how many people are on the transfer. You will get a quote from the operator on request
  • We have 1 or 2 hotels we depart from for the transfers to Port Jucaro. These locations are announced a week before the trip. If you are not staying at one of these hotels you will need to take a taxi there. We cannot pick up from any private homes and/or B&B, airbnb. If you are staying in one of these locations you will need to meet the shuttle bus at one of the designated areas.
  • The transfer Havana-Jucaro takes around 7 hours
  • Transfers from/to Santa Clara airport (SNU) and Camaguey airport (CMW) and hotels in Santa Clara and Camaguey are usually possible, but availability and costs need to be reconfirmed by the operator upon request
  • If the operator can’t organize a transfer from Santa Clara / Camaguey on special trips, you would need to take a taxi to/from Jucaro port (it takes around 2,5 hours and the costs are around 150 CUC)
  • The pickup times will be reconfirmed only a few days before the trip starts (it depends on the arrivals of the other passengers as well)
  • Be aware that in Cuba it is not easy to arrange transfers flexibly. So if you have transfer requests from/to other locations then the above, you would need to take a taxi to and from the boat
  • You are not permitted to bring GPS devices, drones and satellite phones into Cuba.

DAY 2 - 7

  • The day begins with a wake up call at 7:00 am, coffee/tea ready, breakfast at 7:15 am.
  • Diving starts at 8:00 am. Check dives with your group and dive guide.
  • After first dive, surface interval in one of the beautiful beaches.
  • Second dive, back to the boat for lunch.
  • The dive guide will help you arrange the time for your afternoon dives.
  • You can do excursions through the lagoon and mangrove channels instead
  • For a generous tip you can arrange extra dives 
  • Evenings are around the bar drinking cocktails and enjoying the sea
  • Around 8:00 pm, dinner is served, everyone gets together around the table
  • The staff will assist to plan your next dives, special requests or suggestions
  • It’s also the time to tell the dive guides where would you like to dive next day
  • For a generous tip you might be able to arrange night dives with your guide

  • Boat arrives in Jucaro at around 9:30 am

Diving logistics

  • Fast boats will take you to the diving sites, you will have the opportunity to explore different sites each day and enjoy the view of the mangrove channels, virgin beaches, birds and other exuberant fauna during the trips.
  • During the briefings, the dive guides will explain every detail of each dive, dive site highlights, correct behavior while diving with sharks.
  • Diving schedule is up to 4 dives per day
  • It is possible to book extra dives on request. Return to mainland is on Friday

Dive Sites

  • Black Coral I and II - These are the shark dives at the Gardens of the Queen and there are often lots and lots of sharks present. Silky sharks and Caribbean reef sharks, which are the most numerous, are not generally aggressive unless they feel threatened
  • Farallón - Considered to be one of the best dives in Jardines de la Reina. This site is a magnet for pelagics, large schools of grunts, jacks and silver tarpons. Turtles, rays, silky sharks and Caribbean reef sharks
  • Pipín - This is where the big boys play. Schools of jacks and even bigger schools of tarpons, numbering 10-50, cut jagged lines in the ocean. A lone, patrolling hammerhead may make a cursory inspection of the dive party before disappearing back into the blue. Groups of silky sharks (up to 12) arrive to view the scuba divers on their safety stop
  • Vicente - This is the Queens Gardens' drop off site characterized by its large vertical wall. Spectacular coral gardens welcome divers and vibrant coral interspersed with massive black coral colonies and all their inhabitants can be observed
  • El Galeon - An old galleon and a nearby fishing boat. The former has been around long enough to have been well and truly colonized by the sea
  • Anclitas - Hawksbill sea turtles are often spotted here, along with barracuda, stingrays, tarpons, Caribbean spiny lobster, tiger grouper, soapfish, hogfish, and saucereye porgy
  • Cabeza de la cubera - Meaning 'Snapper’s head', this site features, surprise surprise, many varieties of snapper, as well as grouper

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have. After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • 30 % is non-refundable
  • Between 120 days and 90 days before the trip = 70 % is refundable
  • 90 days before the trip = no refund

In case of cancellation the refund will be transferred to your bank account, credit card or paypal account within 10 business days


  • Make sure you meet the requirements for your nationality and entry into the country you are visiting,
  • Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after the date you plan to leave the country
  • Dive insurance is mandatory for divers of all ages on all our trips: bring your certificate as proof
  • It is strongly recommended to take out a travel insurance that is appropriate for the type of dive vacation booked
  • Check the electrical standards (such as what plugs are used) in your destination country before you travel and bring the appropriate adapter if necessary.
  • Itinerary and number of dives are indicative and subject to weather and conditions: safety always comes first
  • The operator of the vessel is not responsible for civil unrest, terrorism, strikes, illness, epidemics, accidents, injuries, damage, loss and theft, quarantine, customs regulations, changes to flight schedules, delays, deportation or refusal of entry by immigration authorities and other circumstances beyond our control.
  • In the event of a change in the cruise itinerary due to a major cause there is no refund, if there would be a refund if the duration of a cruise were to change, the affected passengers will be offered a credit or refund of the cruise fare pro-rated for the number of days of reduction of the cruise itinerary that was scheduled.
  • In the event that a cruise is cancelled, the ship will make every effort to provide a suitable alternative including, the option to participate in another available ship.
  • If no alternative offered is accepted by the affected cruise passengers, the ship reserves the right to provide a refund of the amount of the cruise fare paid or not.
  • All divers must provide their dive certification card
  • Dive computers are mandatory
  • Local rates, fuel surcharges, distance rates, port fees, etc. may change without notice due to changes in government policy, changes in oil prices, etc. Changes are beyond our control and increases must be paid upon request. We will endeavor to inform you of any changes as soon as possible. A change in these rates does not give you the right to cancel the trip.
