  • Most intriguing are the cleaning stations, found around every corner and under every ledge. Groupers, Snappers, Surgeonfish, Eels, Parrotfish, even Giant Napoleon Wrasse park casually in corners, oblivious to all, while armies of wrasse, shrimp and other assorted cleaners pick at debris in their open gills and cavernous mouths.
  • The big attraction in the Maldives are the schools of fish that patrol the reefs in colourful packs: Humpback and Black and White Snappers, Trevally Jacks, Barracuda, Batfish, Unicornfish, Yellowback Fusiliers and Harlequin Sweetlips almost comical in design.
  • The reef's larger inhabitants, including sharks, rays and occasionally even Whale Sharks, are often seen cruising in the blue.
  • Vaavu and Rasdhoo includes spectacular channel-drift dives, wrecks, pinnacles and world famous night dives.  This is a year round itinerary with each of the dive areas offering exciting diving.

Dive Sites Description: * easy ** medium difficult *** challenging

Lankan Beyru (Manta Point) *

  • The main attraction of the site are the manta rays that arrive at the cleaning station during the southwestern monsoon. The cleaning station itself is a large block of coral covered with anemones and full of fish. Reef sharks, turtles and humphead sharks are also very common.

Rasfari Corner *

  • It is covered with hard corals and houses a cleaning station during the northeast monsoon. The most common way to dive here is to start at the top of the reef, which is protected from currents and then spend some time with blankets. The wall is covered with hard corals, rich in life and popular for watching turtles.

Kandooma Thila ***

  • Definitely number one in the ranking of the best diving sites in the southern atoll of Malé, offers spectacular conditions to observe gray reef sharks, white tip sharks, eagle rays, great schools of jacks and snappers, both with the incoming current and with the outgoing. The currents can be quite strong, so a negative entry and rapid descent is often required. Reef hooks should be ready to use.

Rasdhoo Atoll Rasdhoo Rasdhoo Madivaru ***

  • Canal diving between Rasdhoo Island and Madivaru, which offers a spectacular mountain range overlooking the ocean to observe gray reef sharks, white tip sharks, eagle rays and dogtooth tuna. Pelagics are more visible during strong incoming currents, the use of current hooks is recommended. With the incoming current and a little luck, it is possible to find hammerhead sharks. In this case the dive starts in the blue.

Miyaru Kandu ***

  • One of the channel dives you won't want to miss. With a strong input current, the list of possible encounters is impressive. Mainly gray reef sharks, but also white tip sharks, eagle rays, napoleons and tunas are quite common and with visibility reaching: 40 meters during the northeast monsoon, may be the highlight of the trip.

Alimatha House Reef **

  • Each night offers a great spectacle offered by a great number of sharks, rays and huge jacks. The maximum depth will not exceed 15 meters and most of the time you will be kneeling on a sandy bottom waiting for the sharks to approach.

  • Popular with divers of all levels. Advanced divers can enjoy the deeper     reefs and exhilarating drift dives in the channels. You'll see     pretty corals, mantas and reef sharks. Meemu Atoll is home to     dolphins, whale sharks, moray eels, grouper, Napoleon wrasses, eagle rays, and snapper.

Mulaku Kandu

  • A channel with interestingly shaped pinnacles and soft coral overhangs

Medhufushi Thila

  • A pinnacle covered with sponges that leads to a sheer wall and overhangs

Muli Corner

  • The reef is known as home to a lot of sharks during incoming currents but it also welcomes manta rays on a large cleaning station during outgoing current.

  • Whaleshark point, there is no specific place where diving would guarantee an encounter with a whale shark but the common practice is to use a strong light in the evening at the back platform of the boat to attract the zooplanktons which will further attract the whale sharks.
  • Scuba diving while having the shark at the back of the boat is rather discouraged as the bubbles may disperse the mass of the plankton. The best experience is to grab a mask, fins and gently enter the water on the side of the boat, not to scare the whale shark away and then enjoy the view while snorkeling.
  • Sometimes the whale shark will stay for hours, more than one visitor is also possible. Instructions given by the dive guides have to be followed and a code of conduct must be respected by all snorkelers to enjoy the moment to the fullest.

  • Full board, including water, tea, coffee, juices, snacks between meals and after dives, soft drinks, local beer & wine
  • Transfer from/to the airport on departure days only

  • Taxes, port and park fees (350 USD per trip)
  • Nitrox (150 per trip)
