Diving in the area

In the cenotes of the area of Merida full of archaeological remains such as Mayan skulls, ceramics, animal bones ... sleeping in hammocks in the village church, as there is no hotel infrastructure outside the traditional tourist circuit, or in colonial Merida, you will discover another Mexico and make some unique dives.

Come and dive in Alacranes Reef, National Park and Biosphere Reserve, in a 30 meter yacht. You can sleep at Perez Island to enjoy spectacular dives in the only coral reef in the Gulf of Mexico where more than 600 species of fish and 34 species of corals have been identified. Here the average visibility is 20m, the water temperature is warm and the speed of underwater currents is two knots. In addition, about 250 vessels sunk by shipwreck have been found in the area; among them, more than 20 Spanish galleons.

For the more experienced divers Los Picos offers the possibility of diving in the Gulf of Mexico. In a freshwater suggestion zone, a chain of submarine peaks emerges from depths up to 14 meters. The colder waters, with strong currents, facilitate the encounter with the greatest life: sharks, devil rays... Diving suitable for all levels.

How to get to

  • From Madrid or Barcelona with airlines such as Iberia, Air Europa or Wamos air (booking flights early you can get good prices below € 600) with arrival in Cancun by direct flight.
  • You must arrive at the time set for the whole group, these times are given to each diver beforehand once the reservation is made, as each diver must buy their own flight.
  • Once there they will have a transfer that will take them directly to the assigned hotel in Playa del Carmen.

  • Once you arrive in Cancun at the scheduled time, our Spanish guide, who will accompany you throughout the trip, will pick you up to arrive at the hotel assigned (people arriving on flights with different times or days will be waiting for a transfer that will take them directly to the hotel).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS:

  • Climate: In Playa del Carmen the water temperature is between 24 and 28 degrees and the visibility is 20m. approx. Outdoor temperature is between 24 and 32 degrees approx.
  • In the Cenotes: the water is between 20 and 23.
  • Documentation: passport (6 months validity), diving certificate, diving insurance and book of dives.
  • Cash: It is not necessary to carry cash, there you can pay in U.S. dollars or Mexican pesos, you can get out of the cashiers without problem and pay by card at the hotel and / or establishments.
  • Clothes and neoprenos: Summer clothes and maybe some jersey for the night, 3mm neopreno will be enough for Playa del Carmen, we recommend some on suit for the Cenotes.
  • The dives are made from boat, with skipper, guide, bottle and lead provided by the local diving center, being some dives from shore or on foot as the dives in Cenotes.
  • Plugs: 220v with three-point adapter, there also
  • have adapters, but bring some just in case.
  • The bottles are made of 12 litre aluminium, with DIN system, if someone has an international adapter.
  • Payment of the reservation is necessary to confirm the place. 50%
  • Payment for the remainder of the trip must be made to the account provided 30 days prior to the departure date.
  • The price of the package does not include international flights (flights will be purchased by each diver being the responsibility of the diver the choice of his own flight).
